Hi Guys!

Yesterday I got a Rock-Ola 477 (MAX) This is the first one with
optical write-in and read-out. It's not too fancy and doesn't work at
all. Putting the juke on means the lights are on and that's it. Seems
that the juke is complete so far. Some leds lit (9.6 V on
Profit-Setter/Credit-Unit and 9.6 V on Hit-Tracker), some not.

The display doesn't work either. No record, no credit display. Not any
reaction on service switch, freeplay, test, cancel, reset and so on.

Magazine-Motor is running by switching SPDT on the opto assy.

Service-manual, Parts-Catalog and Wiring Diagram are complete.

Anyone, any idea where and how to start getting my baby back to run.

Any information is welcome.

I'll keep in touch

Kind regards, Ron

I'm not a Rockola expert, but I have operated and repaired a few of
these... The LEDs that are lit are a GOOD sign... The 9.6 V is the
most critical voltage on Rockola jukes of this era- check it with a
voltmeter and make adjustments if necessary (there is a 9.6 V
adjustment pot for this purpose). Next step is to make sure all fuses
are good using a meter- don't trust visual appearance. With power on,
press each of the circuit breakers in, then manually pull each one
back out. I have seen a few instances where somebody has pressed these
in and they have stuck pressed in that position, and that circuit
definitely will not work. This should get you started...

Hello Thomas

Firts of all, Thanx for your reply

In the meantime I have checked all circiut-breakers and all fuses (in-
and outside) They are all in a good condition and working fine. On the
fuseboard, F1, F2, F3 and F4 (3Amp) were not inserted. As I did and
turned the Juke on, it sound that the amplifier was screaming??
Then I tried only F1 (no problem) then only F2 and so on. This kind of
screaming only is, when F3 and F4 are together inserted.

Further are all 9.6 Volts working. (At least led lits) Play relais is
working. All tests (see manual) of Profit-Setter, Hit-Tracker,
Logic-Board failed. No Displays, No Credits. No Read-in or Read-Out!!
Seems that I have to check all prints for faults.

Turning the switch on the SPTD on the opto assy makes the
magazinemotor 1 revolution and stops normal. Stop it manual by
operate/off/scann switch at (for exemple) selection 180 and turning
the grippermotor by hand makes the single putting on the turntable,
set the needle on. Putting the swtich in "Operate" makes cancel the
record, returning to the magazin, and back to standby. Still no sound.

Any idea?

Regards, Ron
