Post by k***@gmail.comI'm trying to figure out what this jukebox is worth. It turns on and everything but it does need serviced. It worked in the past but it has been in storage for a while and needs some maintenance...some of the lights need replaced and it needs new a new needle. I have the key for it. Other than that it looks like it's in good shape. Any ideas what it's worth?
Three things that I believe set the tone for value. Condition, Condition....and....Condition. An electrically restored and mechanically operational box will command more $$ than barn finds. The era of the machine also heavily influences value. IMHO...70' machines....regardless of maker are not big $ ticket items. The lack of mechanism visibility and the integration of more computerized components make these $$$ to repair...if possible....and finding the repair parts in the first place.
I would expect a machine in the condition you describe to be valued at $150 or less. Maybe $200 if I could do all the work myself and it was a complete box to begin with. This era of boxes just don't have the collect-ability of the 50s and early 60s jukeboxes. Bad thing is it will probably take $300 worth of work to get it into electrically and mechanically good condition. In shopped out state....electronics all updated, repaired, cleaned, oiled, making every selection, sounding good, lights all working....this is about a $550 machine. a guy could be into this machine for what realistic retail value is. Someone will be looking specifically for that 70s disco vibe to go much higher that that.
Definitely a hobby that is a labor of love....and not one to make money on. So...everything above this is only 1 guys opinion. I have saved a couple of turd boxes...because I love jukeboxes and the challenge to make them great again. Good luck with yours!
