1015-CD Wurlitzer stopped dead - any tips/troubleshooting resources I can use?

Hi!

My Wurlitzer Jukebox, bought around 1992/3, stopped whilst playing a CD
yesterday and is now completely dead. No lights, LED, bubble tubes,
motors - it's like it's turned off. ;__;

I figured it was the fuse in the plug, but I've changed that and it
hasn't helped.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to figuring out what's wrong
with it? Are there any fuses within the machine itself, or a central
power supply that could have given up the ghost?

Any help would be very gratefully received,
---Matt

Thanks very much for replying John, that's a very helpful site you have
there! - and I do recognise one of the serial number problems (A
selected CD is placed on the player, SC&C control tries 3 times to read
the TOC (relay M6 clicks 7 times). CD is then returned to the record
carrier).

Sounds like I could use the $15 repair kit, if only I can get the power
back on. The link to the Trouble Shooting Chart pdf isn't working
though - is there anywhere else I can access that? I really want to
figure out what I need to do to get my baby up and running again.

Thanks a lot for the link to the troubleshooting guide.

It suggested a blown fuse in the #1 speaker would cause the jukebox to
be completely unresponsive like this (no power, lights, cd functions).
I finally found out my replacement fuses today and so I changed Si1,
Si2 and the other four fuses that are located under the amplifier
cover.

I'm still not getting a flicker of life out of it, unfortunately.

If anyone knows of any other fuses, eg. a main fuse, aside from those
six, or anything else I can try then please, PLEASE suggest it. The
amplifier cover mentions a main fuse on the bottom right corner, but I
can't find what it's refering to.

The mains (line) fuse is in the metal box that covers the power switch.
It is off to the side and not always easy to spot... it is also
possible that the power cord or power switch are defective - use an
ohm-meter to check these if the mains fuse is good.

John, thanks again for your invaluable help & time.

I've taken the cover off the box that covers the power switch, and
another box inside that, but I haven't located the main fuse.

Here's what I'm seeing. (The fuses I've already changed I've marked in
yellow)

The metal cover on the amplifier mentions the main fuse on the bottom
right, as you can see:

But I can't find it to save my own life!

It could well be the power cord or power switch that's defective, but
I'd like to rule out fuses if I can. I know it's unfair to keep asking,
but if you can point it out on the photo, that'd be so helpful.

Um, there is an arrow on the bottom right corner of the amplifier cover
pointing directly to the line fuse holder - it is the black plastic
cylinder that has a gray wire going to the power switch - you extract
the fuse from this using a small slot screwdriver on the end that pokes
out of the aluminum mounting plate, right where the two DIN plugs (gray
into black) are on the center right of your picture "mainfuse.jpg".

Hard to be much clearer... right where I said it was.

YES! It's alive!

Thanks for being so generous, and helping me to overcome my very
limited knowledge of jukebox guts.

I hadn't seen the pop-out cover on the side of the main fuse unit, that
cylinder just looked like it was part of the wiring to me. But once I
knew what to look for and got inside, it was very obvious the fuse had
blown. Now everything is right with the world. ^___^

I've checked the serial number and it's a 3109XXXX, so I'll be hitting
up your site for the transistors pack, assuming I'd be capable of
fitting them myself. Contrary to the evidence in this thread, I'm
probably up to the job. I've taken electronics classes and at least
know which end of a soldering gun is which. :p

Thanks again!

Good, I think I'll use your picture to show folks where that fuse is, I
think a couple of folks have not spotted it before.

I trust you used the same value fuse as the original? Over fusing leads
to serious risk of fire or damage.

Glad to help!
